Caribou Provincial Park, Pictou Nova Scotia

This beach is about 1 hour and 45 mins from Halifax. It is located 5 mins from the PEI ferry. You can see the ferry as it rounds the point to enter the harbour for docking.

This beach was a pleasant little surprise. It is small, about 3 km in total. It has wheelchair access. We were chasing the sun today… and the northumberland strait beaches never fail. A forecast of clouds and maybe rain… when we arrived it was sunny. The park offers both a picnic area and a camping area.

The walk from the parking lot was a short path down some steps and then on the sand. We took a little stroll along the beach and ended up at what I believe is Pictou lodge. The beach was typical northumberland strait sand… medium soft… yellow/ red colour.

The swimming was perfect. The shoreline is shallow, but not too shallow so you don’t have to walk too far to be able to swim. The surf was calm on the day we were there and the water was very warm.. about 20c

I am a beach lover. Going to the beach is what I do best. My soul dreams of warm water waves in the winter. Diving into the salt water is healing of mind, body and soul. Standing on the edge of earth, the softest earth, as it meets the sea is magical.
