West Mabou Beach Provincial park, Cape Breton, NS

west Mabou provincial beach…

Little did I know how many incredible beaches are located on CapeBreton Island in Nova Scotia. It was an area that I would not think of to go to the beach. I was so wrong. Not only did I discover the 5 beaches located in Port Hood ( blog soon to follow) but I discovered this hidden Gem. Located off Little Mabou Rd, close to the small town of Mabou.

I just need to express the incredible view. The beach meeting the green rolling hills in the back ground is what brings out the magic at this beach. The day we went it was sunny with a few clouds. The water was incredibly warm, I am guessing approx 18-20c. A lovely gradual shore line for swimming. Clear water, no rocks… and did I mention the view of the rolling hills from the beach.

Its an easy access , good parking, and a few hiking trails. I walked and swam along the shore. It is probably about 3 miles long.

  • easy parking, gravel
  • outhouses and change rooms
  • hiking trails
  • easy access to the beach, however no boardwalks
  • lifeguard- NO
  • gradual shoreline, great swimming for young children
  • sheltered

There were a lot of locals on the beach when we were there, which I love to see. It reminded me of my days growing up in PEI. We had our certain spots that tourists didn’t know about. I’m guessing this is a great spot for local gatherings.

I plan to revisit this beach in 2022.

I am a beach lover. Going to the beach is what I do best. My soul dreams of warm water waves in the winter. Diving into the salt water is healing of mind, body and soul. Standing on the edge of earth, the softest earth, as it meets the sea is magical.
