Taylor Head beach is located along the Eastern Shore in the community of Spry Bay. This beach has so much to offer… A little bit of everything…. hiking, Kayaking, swimming or just plain old laying down in the soft white sand.

We arrived at Taylors Head at about noon…. it was early June. It was warm, about 19/20c. We packed a few snacks and some water. The sun was shinning and the beach looked so beautiful. I could not wait to get started on this hike. The trail head is at the farthest end of the beach, excellent signage to get you started. I almost did not want to leave the beach it was so nice. We were all frisky, being early June and at the end of long winter. A warm day in June on the beach is a small tease to what is to come in July. Little did we know.. lol
The first part of our beach hike was sunny, warm, along the coast. The views were amazing. I had the pleasure of hiking with a great friend and her daughter. It was exactly the kind of hike that I love. About 1 hour into the hike.. the trail kinda veers into a cut out wooded area. When we came out on the other side, it was like we entered a different time. The sun was gone and the wind had arrived, bringing the cold fog. The temperature had dropped probably by 10c. Luckily we all brought sweaters with us. Honestly I did feel like we stepped back in time. We were now hiking on the edge of sea cliffs on well beaten paths. I was waiting for Jamie Fraser to arrive on his horse to take me back to the warm sunny beach. .. lol.. That did not happen, unfortunately… lol. However we did experience the true change of weather that Nova Scotia has to offer. The weather combined with the terrain, I felt like I was walking in the highlands of Scotland. It was such beautiful scenery.

I have been to this beach many times. It offers many things to do. It is a day long beach day. Hiking, swimming, kayaking and beautiful scenery.
