Panmure Island Provincial Beach, Prince Edward Island

July 28th/2023

It’s been a whole month of summer and only 2 good beach days. The month of July has been rain, more rain, and then rain again. This was my first real day of beach time. Panmure beach is about 15 mins from my cottage in Murray Harbour, or Beach point. I decided to make the quick trip over today. It was hot, and I wanted a change of scenery. The sand was hot to walk on. Something I forgot. I had to keep my flip flops on to walk. I found a spot close to the entrance and set up camp. I was by myself today, something I needed more than I realized. I set up my beach chair, striped off my shorts and t-shirt and headed to the water for a swim. Panmure has a great shoreline for swimming. Its deep quick, sandy and cold. I love it. This summer has been so humid, the cold water felt refreshing. After my swim I headed back to my beach chair to enjoy some much needed summer sun.

Sitting on the beach alone… can let me over hear other conversations… and of course people watch. I enjoy people. And people at the beach are authentic.

There were two ladies sitting beside me, discussing basic life challenges. I can relate. I silently sympathized with them.

There was woman with 2 kids, ages 10 and 12 ( i’m guessing ) much like me years ago. It would be just me and the kids. It made me tear up, thinking about those days with young kids, hearing their talk. So simple, however, I can tell the mom is stressed, little does she know how carefree these days are. Kids running to the water and back to the blanket. Saying things like “i’m hungry, she splashed me, he threw sand, I found a crab, come and swim” So simple and joyful.

Panmure Island Beach is a provincial beach located on , yup you guessed it… Panmure Island. It has a little restaurant that is licensed. It has facilities, lots of parking. There is also a campground located just before the beach.

  • restaurant
  • lifeguards
  • facilities
  • lots of parking
  • cute little licensed restaurant with a patio
  • deep shoreline fast
  • perfect swimming beach

It is long, good for walking, nice soft sand. A perfect little beach to spend a couple of hours relaxing.

I am a beach lover. Going to the beach is what I do best. My soul dreams of warm water waves in the winter. Diving into the salt water is healing of mind, body and soul. Standing on the edge of earth, the softest earth, as it meets the sea is magical.
